An NPC's Sorrow

If your party has a habit of "killing first, asking questions later," then this tool can help construct a sad tale for a slain NPC.

About this project

What it does

An NPC’s Sorrow gives a slain nonplayer character the life story the party never stopped to ask about. Choose or randomize ancestry, sex, age, occupation, location, and name, then generate a seeded tragic biography that turns an anonymous casualty into a person with relationships, routines, and unfinished hopes.

Generated characters can be revisited from a local graveyard and shared through a stable URL or QR code. The same seed and constraints reproduce the same story, which makes the result useful as a table handout, recap detail, or consequence that returns later.

What you can do

  • Generate a complete NPC tragedy from guided or random traits
  • Choose ancestry, age, occupation, location, and an optional name
  • Reproduce stories with deterministic seeds
  • Save past NPCs in a device-local graveyard
  • Share a generated story by URL, QR code, or plain text
