Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Savras fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. Savras has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Innate Spellcasting. Savras’s spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 32, +24 to hit with spell attacks). He requires no components.
  • At will: arcane eye, detect magic, detect thoughts, dispel magic, true seeing
  • 3/day each: legend lore, scrying, time stop
  • 1/day: foresight
Divine Foresight. Savras cannot be surprised. Attack rolls against him have disadvantage, and he has advantage on ability checks and saving throws.
Power of Truth. Savras knows when a creature he can perceive deliberately speaks a falsehood. A creature attempting to conceal information from him has disadvantage on ability checks.
Godly Presence. Savras cannot be moved, teleported, or banished against his will.
Skein Unbound (Mythic Trait; 1/Day). When Savras is reduced to 0 hit points, he instead regains 270 hit points and steps outside the immediate moment for 1 minute. He can use his mythic actions and takes two turns in the next round, one on his normal initiative and one on initiative count 10.

Actions

Multiattack. Savras makes two Crystal Staff attacks and uses Piercing Gaze.
Crystal Staff. Melee Weapon Attack: +21 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (4d6 + 11) bludgeoning damage plus 18 (4d8) force damage. A spellcaster hit by this attack must succeed on a DC 24 Intelligence saving throw or expend its highest-level remaining spell slot without effect.
Piercing Gaze. One creature Savras can see within 120 feet must succeed on a DC 29 Wisdom saving throw or take 45 (10d8) radiant damage and be paralyzed until the end of Savras’s next turn.
Word of Absolute Clarity (1/Day). Every illusion and transmutation spell of 8th level or lower within 300 feet ends. Each creature under an enchantment effect immediately repeats its saving throw, ending that effect on a success.

Reactions

Foretold Defense. When a creature Savras can see makes an attack roll against him, Savras imposes disadvantage on the roll.
Arcane Equilibrium. When a creature within 120 feet casts a spell of 7th level or higher, Savras casts counterspell at 9th level.

Legendary Actions

The avatar can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. It regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Cast a Spell. Savras casts one at-will spell.
Divine Insight. One creature within 60 feet must succeed on a DC 29 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.
Rewrite Moment (Costs 2 Actions). Savras forces one attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made since the end of his last turn to be rerolled. He chooses which result is used.
Foretold Step (Costs 2 Actions). Savras teleports to an unoccupied space he can see within 90 feet and makes one Crystal Staff attack.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the avatar uses one lair action. It cannot use the same option two rounds in a row.

Skein of Possibilities. Up to three creatures Savras can see have disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws until initiative count 20 on the next round.
Vision of the End. Each creature of Savras’s choice must succeed on a DC 24 Intelligence saving throw or take 21 (6d6) psychic damage and become frightened until initiative count 20 on the next round.
Truth-Bond. A 20-foot-radius sphere within 120 feet becomes a zone in which creatures cannot deliberately speak a falsehood until initiative count 20 on the next round.
Foreseen Ground. Savras chooses a 30-foot-radius area. Until initiative count 20 on the next round, his enemies treat it as difficult terrain and cannot teleport into or out of it.

Mythic Actions

The avatar can take 3 mythic actions per day, using one option at a time. It regains spent uses at dawn.

Crystal Clarity. Savras’s third eye emits a beam in a 120-foot-long, 10-foot-wide line. Illusions in the line end, and invisible creatures and objects there are revealed until the end of their next turn.
Glimpse of the End (Costs 2 Actions). One creature within 120 feet must succeed on a DC 29 Wisdom saving throw or take 66 (12d10) psychic damage and be paralyzed until the end of its next turn.
Temporal Loop (Costs 3 Actions). Creatures in a 20-foot-radius sphere within 120 feet return to the spaces they occupied at the start of the round and regain hit points equal to damage taken since then. Each affected creature is then stunned until the end of its next turn.

Introduction

Savras, He of the Third Eye, governs truth, fate, and magical foresight. Once a southern deity who contested Azuth’s authority, he endured centuries imprisoned in a divine scepter before accepting service beneath the High One.

The All-Seeing include diviners, magistrates, oracles, and truth-speakers who record prophecies and study how small choices alter possible futures. Some cover their ordinary sight with crystalline masks.

The avatar appears where concealed truth can change the course of nations or where mortal magic has tangled time and fate. He sees possible endings clearly, though he does not always possess the right to choose among them.

Physical Appearance

Savras appears as a man whose face is living, transparent crystal. A third lidless eye shines from his brow and strips concealment from anything it regards.

He wears the plain robes of a philosopher and carries a crystal staff topped by a clear orb, an echo of the scepter that held him for centuries. Reflections in the orb move a few seconds ahead of the present.

Roleplaying the Avatar

Savras reports what has happened or will happen without speculation. His detachment breaks only when the Shadow Weave or reckless time magic threatens the integrity of fate.

  • Use clear statements without hedging.
  • Address characters by titles they have not yet earned.
  • Pause as though listening to a later version of the conversation.
  • Never answer a question with only one possible future as though it were certain.
  • State the cost of knowledge before revealing it.

Use in a Campaign

The False Prophecy

A famous prediction has been altered by one word. Savras knows the original but cannot reveal it until the party proves who changed the record.

Murder Tomorrow

The avatar names a character as the killer of a public figure who is still alive. Preventing the death may cause the future Savras described.

The Missing Hour

An entire city loses one hour. Savras remembers every discarded timeline and asks the party to restore the least catastrophic version.

Judgment of the Third Eye

A court invokes Savras in a dispute where both sides speak literal truth. The party must discover which crucial fact neither witness understands.

Lairs

Savras’s lairs show time and truth as visible layers. Mirrors reflect different choices, lies produce cracks in crystal, and a footstep may echo before the foot falls.

Library of All-Seeing

In a hidden Tashalar scriptorium, mirrored floors show each visitor arriving and leaving by several different routes.

Candlekeep Inner Ward

The prophecies of Alaundo reorder themselves when Savras appears, placing consequences before the choices that cause them.

The Crystal Spires

Shining South ruins pierce a thin place in the planes where every spoken lie produces a visible fracture.

High Court of Truth

A magistrate’s hall becomes a divine court in which omitted facts appear as empty chairs and future verdicts whisper from the gallery.
